On Thursday, 16 April 2026, we cordially invite you to a panel discussion. From 5 to 7 pm, the Leipzig Polyclinic will open its doors for an evening dedicated to an often invisible but omnipresent topic: weight discrimination in everyday life and in medicine.

Together with expertsand those affected, we would like to talk about how prejudices against overweight, fat* people manifestthemselves - whether at work, in the social environment or in the healthcare system - and how we can actively counter these structures. A particular focus will be on the empowerment of overweight, obese* people: How can self-determination be strengthened? How can we create more respect and participation?

Representativesfrom Discheck and the Society Against Weight Discriminationare already taking part- as well as other guestsfrom activism and those affected, who will be announced shortly.

The event is open to all people who are affected themselves or who want to deal with their own fatphobia and learn more about the topic. Admission is free.

Come along, ask your questions and chat to us. We look forward to an intensive evening full of inspiration, solidarity and constructive discussion.

When? Thursday, 16 April 2026, 5-7 p.m.
Where? District health centre Poliklinik, Taubestr. 2, 04347 Schönefeld

The event will take place in a protected setting. If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us. Feel free to share the invitation!

*Fat_fat is an empowering self-designation used by fat_fat people themselves. We deliberately use it as a counterpoint to social stigmatisation - because body descriptions should not be insults.
