Saxony has voted and the results - as expected - unfortunately speak for themselves, the black-blue bloc has made massive gains compared to the last election. Every fourth person voting has given their vote to the far-right AfD, a total of almost 60% for a right-wing conservative majority In a first comment on the election, Horst Kahrs (Rosa Luxemburg Foundation) sees this as heralding a new cycle of parliamentary democracy, "which [....] will be characterized by the realization that the parliamentary existence of this party will be permanent and that there is a not inconsiderable number of citizens in this society who approve of the political positions and style of this party, share them and do not just put up with them." [1]
No matter which of the mathematically possible constellations will be in charge of the government in the near future, the CDU will continue to provide a prime minister. Thus, all signs point to a complacent "Keep it up!".
