We are advertising a part-time (20 hours per week) position in everyday counselling, starting on 1 January 2027. The post is initially on a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2027. We would like to extend the contract beyond this date, but this is subject to our funding.
The Organisation
Solidarisches Gesundheitszentrum Leipzig e.V. is a community health centre in the Schönefeld district of Leipzig. Our approach is to take a holistic and interdisciplinary view of health. Above all, we focus on the social causes of illness and health, rather than viewing health as an individual responsibility.
The role
Various professional groups work together on an interdisciplinary basis at the polyclinic. Our services include psychological counselling, social counselling, everyday life counselling, health counselling, health-related community work and other sub-projects.
The everyday advice service offers a low-threshold, short-term and, where necessary, ongoing point of contact for various issues relating to the organisation of daily life in the Schönefeld neighbourhood. Taking a resource-oriented approach and depending on the specific problem, goals are developed together with service users to help them help themselves. Furthermore, a course of action is agreed upon, solutions are sought, or access to other services offered by the Poliklinik is facilitated.
Within our association, the role also involves taking on collectively shared tasks and participating in various meetings and plenary sessions.
Your duties
Counselling work:
Conducting and coordinating one-to-one counselling sessions and counselling processes, covering topics such as:
Support with prioritising various aspects of life such as social issues, housing, education, work, finances and future plans
Counselling for people experiencing (long-term) unemployment to help them re-enter the labour market, e.g. by drafting application documents and preparing them for the application process
Support with structuring daily life, sleep hygiene, stress reduction and the use of relaxation techniques
Help with integrating into a new living, working or cultural environment
Counselling using community-based occupational therapy methods
Once a week on Wednesdays: everyday life counselling during the open interdisciplinary consultation hours (no appointment required), alongside or in conjunction with health counselling, social counselling and psychological counselling
Public relations work (e.g. through information stands)
Close collaboration with our health-related community work
Evaluation and quality assurance as part of funding from the European Social Fund (ESF)
Networking and collaboration with relevant stakeholders in the neighbourhood
Development of, and conceptual input into, the polyclinic’s interprofessional care model
Participation in interprofessional team and case discussions
Further development and conceptualisation of counselling processes
Participation in the polyclinic’s self-governance during team days, closed-door meetings, and planning and strategy processes

We are looking for
A completed, state-recognised qualification or degree in occupational therapy (preferred), or a completed, state-recognised degree in social work or a comparable qualification
Strong counselling skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to convey complex information clearly, to listen actively and to conduct conversations with empathy
Training or further training in (systemic) counselling
(Several years’ worth of) counselling experience
An independent and goal-oriented approach to work
Strong organisational and empathetic skills
Ability to work in a team and willingness to engage in group processes, as well as low-hierarchy
decision-making and feedback processes
Willingness to take part in group weekends and plenary sessions
Willingness to attend the general plenary session (every second Thursday, 6–8 pm) outside working hours and to become part of the collective group
Knowledge and experience of non-discriminatory and culturally sensitive approaches to counselling
Confidence in communicating in English. We would be delighted to hear about any additional language skills, particularly in Arabic!
